ABSTRACT

Capoeira is a cultural manifestation of Afro-Brazilian origin, born during the slavery period in Brazil. Its practice developed historically on the street, on the margins of Brazilian society, giving new meaning to spaces almost always understood only as places of passage or transition. Capoeira has manifested itself in traditional capoeira street circles in Florianópolis (Southern Brazil) for over 30 years, representing possibilities of playful and leisure moments for practitioners, resistant to established historical inequalities. With the covid-19 pandemic and indications for social distancing, the configurations of social life needed to be reinvented. Thus, the current study aimed to investigate the impacts of the covid-19 pandemic on traditional capoeira street circles in Florianópolis. This is a descriptive, exploratory field research with a qualitative approach to the data. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with participants, whose contents were organised in NVivo-12 software and analysed using content analysis, considering the framework of leisure studies and Southern Epistemologies. This study confirmed the impossibility of carrying out the circles in person, resulting in difficulties faced by participants, with different reverberations in their lives. The research highlights the importance of turning to the manifestations and social actors made invisible throughout history, doubly disadvantaged during the current scenario. ABSTRACT

Playing in the streets is presented as a possibility for leisure. In order to study this phenomenon, the article aimed to understand the configuration of playing in vulnerable communities in Florianópolis, southern Brazil, during the covid-19 pandemic. This is a research with a qualitative and descriptive perspective, inspired by researchers of Merleau Ponty phenomenology, which adopts a posture of deep observation in relation to human movement. Children who were present on the streets of communities in vulnerable situations in Florianópolis participated in this study. Data collection consisted of observations performed by the main researcher. Considering the obligation to maintain a distance, the car was identified as an innovative transportation for data collection. The observations refer to the passages through the streets, at moments captured and written in a field diary. Nine car trips were carried out with an approximate duration of five hours each. The results are presented as narratives, subjected to critical review by the researchers in the study. The narratives describe the delicacy of each observation about who plays and experiences leisure on the streets. Playing in the streets of Florianópolis communities has meanings that reveal leisure as a manifestation of the creative experimentation of subjects with rights. ABSTRACT

The first reports of SARS-CoV-2 virus infection occurred in late 2019. Infection and the development of COVID-19 disease are directly related to the particular characteristics of the individual, such as gender, age, and comorbidities. Moreover, indi-vidualswho had some type of chronic disease expressed a higher rate of complications arising from the infection. This study aimed to verify the prevalence of comorbidities in individuals infected by COVID-19 in the city of Jaragua do Sul/SC from March 2020 to December 2021. The research presented a cross-sectional, descriptive, analytical design with a quantitative approach, carried out through secondary data using the Olostech in-formation system of the Health Department of the municipality. The results showed that 40,010 subjects were infected during the study period, of which 39,574 (98.9%) were recovered and 436 died (1.1%). It was observed a predominance of females in the recov-ered group (52.3%) and males in the deceased group (59.2%). The predominant age group in the group of recovered patients was 20-59 years (n=31,636;79.9%) and in the group of deaths it was 60 years or older (n=269;61.7%). In the year 2021 there were more cases of recovered (n=26,040;65.1%) and deaths (n=342;78.4%) when compared to the year 2020. The mean age in the recovered group was 37.5 +or- 15.8 years and in the death group was 63.2 +or- 15.7 years. The data showed the profile of infected individuals and the prev-alence of the main chronic diseases: hypertension, diabetes and obesity. We suggest ac-tions and strategies aimed at minimizing these comorbidities, aiming at a better quality of life for individuals in this city.

ABSTRACT

Background and aims: Ischemic stroke is a remarkable cause of death and disability worldwide. Post-stroke depression (PSD) is the most common psychiatric disturbance after stroke. Despite PSD being a potentially treatable condition, it still requires approaches to improve the early diagnosis. The present study aims to investigate the predictors and correlated variables associated with PSD during hospitalization. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out in a specialized center of neurology situated at Santa Catarina, Brazil. 148 patients with acute ischemic stroke hospitalized between January 2020 and February 2021 were included. Sociodemographic, clinical and radiological variables were assessed during hospitalization. The Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) was applied, as well as the National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and modified Rankin Scale (mRS). Predictors factors were investigated through binary logistic regression and continuous variables through correlation tests. Results: The prevalence of PSD during hospitalization was 31.1%. Predictors of PSD in the acute phase of the stroke were female sex (OR: 2.6;CI 95%: 1.3 to 5.4;p<0.01) and post-stroke anxiety during hospitalization (OR: 4.9;CI 95%: 2.3 to 10.3;p<0.01). The variables NIHSS, mRS, and stroke area were positively correlated with HADS - depression values. Conclusion: This research evidenced a high prevalence of PSD in the acute phase of stroke. Despite the study being conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, the data found is similar to the non-pandemic periods. The research provided clues to identify and early treat patients at greater risk of developing PSD during hospitalization.

ABSTRACT

The long short-term memory (LSTM) is a high-efficiency model for forecasting time series, for being able to deal with a large volume of data from a time series with nonlinearities. As a case study, the stacked LSTM will be used to forecast the growth of the pandemic of COVID-19, based on the increase in the number of contaminated and deaths in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil. COVID-19 has been spreading very quickly, causing great concern in relation to the ability to care for critically ill patients. Control measures are being imposed by governments with the aim of reducing the contamination and the spreading of viruses. The forecast of the number of contaminated and deaths caused by COVID-19 can help decision making regarding the adopted restrictions, making them more or less rigid depending on the pandemic's control capacity. The use of LSTM stacking shows an R2 of 0.9625 for confirmed cases and 0.9656 for confirmed deaths caused by COVID-19, being superior to the combinations among other evaluated models. ABSTRACT

This work aims to discuss tourism among BRICS members, especially between Brazil and India, considering the pandemic caused by COVID-19 and how tourism can help overcome this crisis, promoting biodiversity conservation among member countries. Historical and current data from official international sources, in Brazil and India's government, were obtained and analyzed to create an overview of the current status of tourism among BRICS countries. India represents only 15% of the total tourists who come to Brazil. In Santa Catarina, an important tourist destination in southern Brazil, in 2018, only 56 tourists came from Russia, 39 from China, 32 from India, and 25 from South Africa. As a consequence of COVID-19, tourism will likely have to reinvent itself or, at least, be aware of other windows of opportunity for its survival and growth. As a result, experiential tourism, such as conservation tourism, is expected to consolidate more strongly. Conservation tourism, an innovative proposal, can be defined as the tourism segment that uses natural and cultural heritage, through a socio-environmental research project, with the participation of ecovolunteers, promoting the social entrepreneurship of the communities involved, focused on the experience and learning in protected areas, contributing to their planning, use, sustainability, and conservation, with social responsibility. The difference between conservation tourism and ecotourism is that conservation tourism generates information, unlike ecotourism, which uses available information. This type of tourism, conservation, and community base, with research and education bias, can represent an essential agenda of approximation between the BRICS countries. The definition of a cooperation agenda can be fundamental to promote conservation tourism while helping to protect biodiversity, generating jobs, and being a source of income for the communities involved.

ABSTRACT

Since March 2020, the SARS-CoV-2 [Covid-19] pandemic has caused the closure of developments, but some segments are being more impacted, such as tourism. In this sense, this study aims to present the economic impacts of the pandemic on tourism in the city of Joinville, State of Santa Catarina (Brazil). It's empirical research, with a quantitative approach, using questionnaires and bibliographical research. Through a probabilistic sample, 104 questionnaires were applied to companies in the tourism sector, associated with three representative entities of the municipality, using the Google Forms platform. The results evidence that tourism activity was strongly impacted by the loss of revenue, reduction in revenue, and staff, especially in the event segment, with an average retraction of 81% in business. It concludes that there is a need for a contribution of fiscal and financial support measures, as companies in the sector, mostly micro and small companies, as well as the adoption of biosafety protocols and promotion and marketing strategies with a view to recovery and resumption of tourist activity in the destination.

ABSTRACT

Based on the pandemic situation of the new Coronavirus, this paper aimed to analyze the implementation of a Drive-in cinema in Jurer.. Internacional (Florian..polis, SC), Brazil and its impacts on the tourism sector. To this end, conceptual categories were sought in Santos (2005, 2006 and 2013), studies on cinema, the economy of leisure and its overlap with urban development. Initially, the historical rescue of Drive-in was accomplished, since its genesis in the 1930s in the United States of America, during an economic crisis, arriving in Brazil in the 1970s, during the "Economic Miracle", and recently, to the capital of Santa Catarina due to the epidemiological collapse of 2020, as an alternative to the events sector. In addition to it, information was collected on newspapers, data related to the tourism sector and political measures at national, state and local levels. Jurer.. Internacional neighborhood is one of the locations on the island that most concentrates the high-income population, in addition to establishments with connections to other metropolises. It was concluded that in the current economic conjuncture of the sector, this neighborhood is one of the pioneers in seeking alternatives such as this Drive Park, in order to continue to attract the public of night events and entertainment.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT Objective: to produce a predictive model for the incidence of COVID-19 cases, severity and deaths in Ponta Grossa, state of Paraná. Methods: this is an ecological study with data from confirmed cases of COVID-19 reported between March 21, 2020 and May 3, 2020 in Ponta Grossa and proportion of severity, hospitalization and lethality in the literature. A susceptible-infected-recovered (SIR) epidemic model was developed, and reproduction rate (R0), duration of epidemic, peak period, number of cases, hospitalized patients and deaths were estimated. Deaths were calculated by age group and in three scenarios: at day 24, at day 34, and at day 44 of the epidemic. Results: in the three scenarios assessed in this study, the variation in the number of cases was explained by an exponential curve (r2=0.74, 0.79 and 0.89, respectively, p<0.0001 in all scenarios). The SIR model estimated that, in the best scenario, the peak period will be around 120 days after the first case (between July 11, 2020 and July 25, 2020), estimated R0 will be 1.07 and will infect 0.23% of the population. In the worst scenario, peak period will involve 4,375 (95% CI;4156-4594) cases and 825 (95% CI;700-950) cases in the best scenario. Most cases and hospital admissions will involve patients aged 20 to 39 years, the number of deaths will be higher among the elderly and more pronounced among patients aged ≥80 years. Conclusion: this is the first study that provides COVID-19 projections for a municipality that is not a large capital. It shows a peak period at a later moment;therefore, the municipality will have more time to prepare and adopt protective measures to reduce the number of simultaneous cases.
